What is AugmentX
The initiative
The AugmentX initiative is one of the first Flanders Make infrastructure projects. In this project , the partnering institutions, Flanders Make, VUB and Ugent, partnered up and created an environemt dedicated to depen knowladge in the sustainebility of labour. In this sense we adress a need for research institutions . In addition, through our industry oriented services we offer compagnies the possibility to investigate the applicability of augmentation technologies such as cobots, exoskeleton, smart handlers and such. In addition through our advanced ergonomic and biomechanical assessment capabilities we offer deep insights in the physical loading that physical tasks entail.
AugmentX operates in three environements
The AugmentX initiative is active at the compagny site to measure and demonstrate.
In addition we dispose of an industrial lab in Krotrijk and a research lab in Brussels.
The Team
We rely on several strong holders including; Tom Turcksin, Ilias El Makrini, Taner Incirci, Erard de Lamine, Jan Lamote and Stijn Huysentruyt to maintain, develop and exploite AugmentX.
The list of contributors is extensive. It includes many master students who have devoted themselves to the innitiative through an internship or master project. We also express our gratitude to Phd researchers such a Menthy de Nayer and Haibing Tian who helped in the development of some important components.
Finally we express our deepest gratitude to Prof Tom Verstraten and prof Dirk Lefeber. Without them, this innitiative would have never seen the light of day.
